Other antennas may claim that they have "Dual Polarity", but in effect, any time you use "Dual Polarity", you decrease the antenna's gain by a factor of 2x. This is because, it is impossible to choose both polarities at the same and split your signal into both polarities without losing 1/2 of your power into both planes. The Wi-Pod is capable of choosing either vertical or horizontal polarity with the adjustment of the tripod angle, thus either going true vertical, true horizontal or even putting the antenna at a 45 degree angle to completely fine-tune the antenna's signal for your specific needs. When using the Wi-Pod combo over a period of time, you literally get the feel of how radio waves travel, how surrounding objects affect the signal and how to adjust the antenna to overcome these obstacles! It's like a getting a high-performance antenna and a lesson in microwave radio reception at the same time!

The Wi-Pod has the power to reach out and hit even the most remote access points or wireless hotspots. The Wi-Pod was originally developed because RadioLabs people move around alot and we are constantly on the road. We needed to have the ability to reach a high speed internet connection wherever we went. This awesome combination was put together and worked wonderful for all situations.

Months of research went into the development of the pefect kit for any traveller with a notebook! The WiFi Antenna, high power WaveRV II USB Wifi Adapter, low loss coaxial cable and sturdy aluminum tripod are the perfect combination of ease of use, high power output and most important, portability. The entire combination is only 16" in total length, so it will fit inside of any larger notebook case, and any backpack or duffel bag.

The Wi-Pod has been used to connect line-of-sight to a single access point at a distance of 4.2 miles! This was a direct shot from one location to another, but is a simply amazing feat considering the router was a stock, off-the-shelf unit with the original rubber duck antenna installed!

Wi-Pod in the field: During a recent camping expedition, the Wi-Pod was able to pick up signals from over 9 miles over water to standard routers. In addition, this antenna/card combo was able to pick up 3 different wireless hotspot enabled cities across Clear Lake Ca, the largest freshwater Lake in California. Simply amazing performance considering the distance, trees and water, weak signal strengths and any possible interference.

In some circumstances, the Wi-Pod was able to successfully connect to Konocti Harbor, which is over 20 miles away from Lakeport to a city access point. Additional locations that showed up were Nice - Lucerne and Upperlake, as well as over 40 other access points from the other side of the lake. For a map overview of this, please click Here.
