RadioLabs All Band Discone
Antenna
If
you want to cover a very large bandwidth and listen to everything
from AM broadcast band to well over the microwave spectrum and
have very little space, this is the antenna to buy! The RadioLabs
Discone antenna is only a unity gain antenna, which is perfect
for most situations. If you are in a very fringe area trying to
listen to police traffic from 100 + miles away, this antenna is
not for you.
But, if you are in a somewhat remote area and you
are trying to receive HF through VHF broadcasts and you only have
enough room on your roof for one antenna, get this antenna, regardless
of the price.
Antennas are actually a very simple concept. Get
the correct amount of metal in the air, electronically couple
them to the coax and you're receiving. But, getting the correct
combination of metal and the right combination of radiator length
and spacing is critical.
We have tested numerous antennas on VHF, HF, AM
and shortwave and this is the biggest bang for the buck of any
antenna we have ever tested.
One night of listening and we were able to receive
stations on AM broadcast from Texas, Japan, Alaska and all over
the continental United States. We are in California and that's
amazing. On shortwave, the coverage is actually better. The noise
level is really low and the stations we could hear came booming
in.
We don't sell stuff that we don't believe in, and
this is the best antenna on the market. If you don't already have
an antenna for AM, shortwave or scanner coverage and need to install
something once, this is the only thing you need on your roof.
The vertical elements are 58" long. The horizontal
elements are 13" long. The gain is unity across most bands.
The hardware is stainless steel, including the elements.
